Ewan Stoddart was appointed to prepare proposals for a contemporary new single storey extension to an impressive ‘Mock Tudor’ late Victorian period private residence located in the Mid Sussex countryside.
The clients brief was to take an out of date, north facing kitchen with restricted natural light and to create a new open plan kitchen living and dining space, with a far more agreeable direct connection to the immediate garden and landscaped grounds beyond.
Careful considerations was given to best match and enhance the material palette of the property, this was achieved with the introduction of large minimalist glass sliding doors and a zinc clad standing seam roof (black finish – to match with current timber panelling).
All of the above, plus generous amounts of triple glazing allows the proposals to take full advantage of the available natural north light into the newly created open plan living space beyond.
