Ewan Stoddart was appointed to prepare proposal for the upgrade and preservation of a Grade II listed 16th Century Cottage, the property sits to the north of the river Rother, two miles south of Petworth Town Centre. Through a process of negotiation and careful dialogue with Chichester Planning Department Ewan Stoddart was able to secured listed building permission for the creation of a new two storey side extension, incorporating a new bespoke en-suite bathroom and associated WC and utility space.
The building was once used as an unofficial alehouse for the unsuccessful local canal project commissioned by Lord Egremont bac in the 16th Century, it was even reputed to have also once operated as an illegal brothel according to archive records!
